What do we Believe?
We are like other churches in most ways, but we emphasize some key beliefs.
We are Christian
because we worship and dedicate ourselves to God, the One, Eternal, Self- Existent, All Loving, Triune God who lives as three consubstantial and co-eternal Persons ~ Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We are Christ Centered
because Jesus the Christ is the focus of our lives, our God made human to bring us salvation and show us the way to Love and Joy.
We are Ecumenical
because we believe that Jesus the Christ clearly willed that the Church be one. “If they are not against us they are with us,” Jesus said (Mark 9:40). “I have given them the glory you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.” John 17:22. And so we celebrate the unity and inclusivity of the Church.
We are Catholic
because we provide the whole faith to every person and because we are in union through Baptism, Eucharist, and Faith with the whole Church throughout 2000 years of Christian history. With all those who share the catholic faith (Roman, Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans, etc.) we are faithful to the full faith of the church through the ages.
Everyone is welcome!
St. Philip Neri Ecumenical Church believes all people belong to God, and therefore to the Church. God loves you as you are unconditionally, and so you are welcomed to celebrate with us regardless of your past or present. Saints have a past and sinners have a future. All Christians and those seeking God are welcome. We are all children of the Living God. So we are all brothers and sisters.
“God shows no partiality” ~ Acts 10:34 ~
All who are finding it difficult to fit in other churches are welcome to celebrate with us. Here we seek to follow the rules of love.
“Love is the fulfillment of the Law of God” ~ Romans 13:10 ~
We are unique individuals
You will be encouraged to celebrate your individuality for we all come to God as we are. We want you to grow into the potential that God has lovingly created within you. Above all, we will clearly present God’s unconditional love to you and everyone open to receive it.
We are Evangelical
because we proclaim the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. We believe this Gospel is meant for all persons without exception.
We are Bible based
God’s Word is the foundation of our faith. Simply put, we aim to follow Jesus.
We are Liturgical
because we celebrate the liturgy of the church. Our liturgy is the way we worship God together as a family, wherein God’s Word and the Eucharist are celebrated with an eye to ancient traditions and modern needs.
Come see how ancient Christians worshipped!
In keeping with the ancient traditions, our children are baptized and confirmed in the Spirit. They, like everyone, are welcome to communion. This is the way it was done in the early Church. Many churches today make the children reach the “age of reason” before receiving communion. We think the early Church had it right. Everyone needs Jesus!
And we include those who have glutton sensitivities by offering glutton free communion.
Jesus said,
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them” ~ Mark 10:14-16 ~
~ “God shows no partiality” Acts 10:34 ~
