“We make a living by what we get.  We make a life by what we give.”  – Winston Churchill

Dear Church Family:

On November 29th , non-profits, churches, individuals, families and business will focus on giving and celebrating community generosity by participating in the global day of giving known as “Giving Tuesday.”  Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 and is observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.   Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates giving and philanthropy.

You can be a part of this global movement by making a donation on Giving Tuesday to St. Philip Neri Church to help fund and preserve our many ministries.  If you would like your donation to go a particular ministry, please note the particular ministry on your donation (shopping cart, healing prayer, helping hands, feeding hands, or the animal ministry).   Your donation can also be shared among the ministries within the church; if you’d prefer that just make a donation and write “Giving Tuesday” on the donation.

Want to do more than give money?  Here are few simple things you can do on November 29th:

  • Buy coffee or other small item for the person behind you in line at the drive-through;
  • Pay for someone’s groceries at the check-out counter;
  • Send an encouraging note or a note of gratitude;
  • Cook double for dinner and share a meal with your neighbor or someone in need;
  • Carry quarters and top off expiring parking meters;

Want more ideas?  I’ve attached a list of 30 more random acts of kindness for you to ponder from Focus on Family.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and there are many things that we, as a church family, can be thankful and grateful for.  We each have gifts that we can share with our brothers and sisters.  Every good in this world starts with just one simple act of kindness.  As Mother Teresa said “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”
